Here are a couple of images to celebrate,. Recently I picked up another couple of Silver awards for some environmental portraits from a series of farm animals that I photographed on a number of different farms across eastern Victoria. Some north of the alps, some on the southern sides. The VPPY awards, which is a Victorian state awards run by the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photographers) was held at the Swinburne University.
This series started with a vision of a shot, not dissimilar to the image below of "George" the Ram. I was aiming for a painterly look across the whole series. George was from a mates farm, Shambala, which is in Winton.. Which was rather dry at the time. I didn't want to make the series so much about destitute farm animals and the struggle of the land. But rather just a striking yet painterly environmental portrait of a subject.
Next up in a few months are the APPA's, the national awards of the AIPP. Now is the time for me to get on with creating a new set of award winning images. So I'm on the look out for some creative collaborations, and for that matter some interesting subjects, be they Bovine, Bipeds or heavy machinery even.
